Sorry, I Was Journaling

It may be the last gasping breath of January, but it’s still January, and that means my 2017 goal to post once a month (lofty, I know) is still going strong. So far, so good.

In the past five(ish) months, I’ve most definitely been MIA on here (which you know is now the new location of She Blogs Couture). But you’ll be happy to know my virtual absence is mostly due to my throwing myself pretty completely into journaling. So while you patient folks haven’t been reading my every word about life, rest assured they’re written, and they’ll maybe see the light of day in 50 years or so (maybe sooner, guess you'll just have to see).

So stay tuned because we’ve got all the highlights (and low points) of a 23-year-old’s life coming at you in Technicolor (or, ahem, #vscocam). But really, this whole journaling thing has taken over my life. The other night I took myself out for some shrimp fried rice and a glass of red wine, and I journaled right there at the (candlelit) table. And yes, it did feel like I was starring in my own movie — the fact that the restaurant was playing "Here I Go Again (On My Own)" by Whitesnake only validated the fact that I'd been doing it all wrong up until this point.

In light of this once-a-month-but-maybe-more posting schedule, here’s your speedy recap of some stuff I’ve been up to the past four weeks!

  1. Wearing silver shoes. My mom surprised me with these Topshop kicks (at left) for Christmas, and every time I wear them, I feel like a Beatles-y band member from the future.

  2. Being cold, and going to DUMBO for delicious food with Austen. See above for teeth-chattering, take-the-picture-already levels of chilly.

  3. Eating a lot of Flamin' Hot Cheetos. Chester Cheetah himself tweeted at me. So yeah, I guess you can say things are getting pretty serious.
  4. Finding things that bring me joy (and running after them with reckless abandon).

  5.  Figuring out how the hell to take care of myself (naps and breakfast are important, but so are friends and family members who answer late-night existential question texts).

I'll leave you with the below! (And for faster updates on my life that are less wordy, follow along with the musings of a Florida girl in NYC over on my Instagram.)
